Need suggestions

What matters most to me and Why ?

I have been thinking a lot about it and am a bit confused on what exactly is required.
Do they want ONE specific thing which matters the most or can it be a set of values and beliefs which matter the most to me.

Also at different times of live it has been different values and things which have motivated me and we are always eveloving as a person. So do I try and force myself to think more and see one common thread among all those activities or is it fine to portray a set of things which matteres the most to me in past and talk about what drives me in present.

i am not very sure if what i say is right or wrong, but i will say it anyway. i think you can(and should) discuss a set of values which made you the person you are today, but at the same time, you should have atleast one thing to talk about for which you can actually sacrifice everything...e.g. say, you can say that you will never ever do anything to cheat your loved ones...despite what's in stake. besides this, i think your essay should tie in neatly to sound like a good story.

I don't think it is what you write as much as how you write it. This is a super short essay and you don't have much room to develop a complex story. I wrote about a community service organization that i am involved in, but within that I was able to tie in why I am so passionate about it and what I get from it. This question is all about showing adcom who you are vs. the next applicant with the same set of GMAT and GPA numbers.

Stanford Essay A is not super long this year, from last year's no limits (or rather 10 pages), they have mentioned recommended limits of 2-3 pages. I think for this essay- you can write about a bunch of things,- but it should circle around one thing that matters the most to you !!

BTW, in your target school, do you have a "backup" school? I would really appreciate some advice on that aspect

Hey guys thanks a ton for the suggestions..

Yes This time it has become short.. though not super short :)
3-4 pages with double space..that is max 1500 words i think.

FG: Yes I have some schools which I am surely applying to Stan, Duke, Ross, Darden are in that category.. fw others I am still not 100% sure.. so I guess It will evolve over a period of time.

Uniqpath: Yes I think I will go for some backup school, and I would be equally happy attending that school.. But its tough to decide which can be ur backup cos all good schools are equally tough to get in and you can never be sure.. I am not gonna apply to some real low ranked school as a backup cos I know i wont be happy going there anyway..
